Land mass transport systems have an open architecture and are therefore vulnerable to terroristic attack. The access of a train or a station cannot be controlled against explosive materials like it is done for air planes. The risk of injuries and fatalities in a case of an explosion inside trains or stations can be minimized by strengthening and optimizing these structures. An approach to determine the risk and to optimize the structure is done here numerically.
